Oak House Bachillerato pupils are resourceful, resilient and able to research and evaluate information critically. They are helped to understand the view points of others, to develop an increasing awareness of the world around them and the demands of living in a global society. Oak House pupils leave the school as curious, confident and courteous individuals who are fully prepared to embrace life opportunities and have an international mindset.
Both courses consist on common compulsory elements such as Spanish and Catalan language and literature, English, Philosophy, General Science and History.
Besides these common subjects, each course has its’ own specific ones.
On the one hand, in the Science and Technology course, students take additional subjects as Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Technical Drawing.
On the other hand, in the Humanities and Social Sciences course, students take additional subjects as Economics, Geography, History of Art, Greek or Latin.
In the Bachillerato programmes the majority of subjects are taught in Spanish or Catalan. However, pupils continue to study English to a high level and are given the opportunity to prepare for Cambridge Advanced and Proficiency level examinations. Throughout the 2 year courses pupils study compulsory core subjects, which are common to both programmes, as well as course-specific subjects.
Students are also given the opportunity to prepare for Cambridge Proficiency level English during the Bachillerato years.
Once Bachillerato is over, some of our students decide to continue their studies in the Spanish university system while others choose to study in British, European or American universities. In either way, we help them in their decision-making process and during the application process.
Upon completion of their studies, Oak House School pupils have an extensive choice of further education options. Oak House pupils are self confident and willing to accept challenges and make the most of the opportunities on offer. Some pupils choose to continue their studies in the Spanish university system, whilst others choose British, European or American universities. Both the International Baccalaureate and the DBachillerato programmes prepare pupils to enter universities both in Spain and throughout the world.
Our university counsellor offers support to pupils when researching and considering university options. For those who choose to apply to universities outside Spain, an additional application support service is offered.
